UCCS RESIDENCE HALL

This project is a 68,000 gsf residence hall which inclues 92 additional beds within 2 separate buildings as an expansion to the existing housing village. Proximity to the other 5 resident hall buildings was important to maintain a sense of community and resulted in the selection of a confined and sloped site, posing many design and construction challenges. As part of the site design, an existing arroyo was incorporated as a bioswale feature with exterior deck spaces. Various stake-holder groups, including resident students and the campus Sustainability Club were included in the design process.  The project was completed on time and within an adjusted budget set after Design Development. Design Team and Contractor worked closely to achieve LEED Silver accreditation as well as Energy Star certification. Lou Galletta served as project manager for H+L Architecture as Architect of Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas served as design architect.
